STAND AGAINST DISCRIMINATION

The Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) prohibits discrimination against people with medical disabilities.
In February of 2021 Saundra Reynolds, Principal of Our Lady of Grace Catholic School is to have forced a pupil to wear a mask who had a lawful and legitimate medical exemption. Her actions can be seen to violate s.10(a) of the (OHRC) that all persons should be free from discrimination based on a disability which includes an illness. Forcing an adult or child to wear a mask that obstructs their breathing is harmful to their health.
Discrimination must be stopped wherever it is.

PETITION

We/I ask you to sign this petition that asks for the School Board to discipline Ms Reynolds with her resignation.
As the signer of this petition I request the immediate resignation or Principal Saundra Reynolds of Our Lady Of Grace Catholic School because Ms. Reynolds was already fully aware that the child being discussed had a medical exemption and it as this was formally brought her your attention in writing, signed by a medical professional in accordance with the law and board policy. She was responsible to have read and uphold this lawful exemption.
Through this action, she has disregarded the child’s human rights protection, the child’s parents instructions, and the medical opinion of the family’s physician.
Ms Reynold’s action are contrary to the Catholic Trustee and Parish Community Code of Conduct to promote a positive school climate by “Treating everyone equitably and with dignity regardless of race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, ethnic origin, citizenship, religion, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or any other immutable characteristic or ground prohibited by the Human Rights Code, as well as recognizing that every person has the right to full participation in economic, political and cultural life of society.”
According to the mother her child has been traumatized by Ms. Reynold’s actions.
Children cannot defend themselves. Will you help us defend them?
With respect to Ms. Reynolds, we understand that this child may not be the first, or the last that endures these human violations. We can only hope that it stops here. For that reason, we ask that you set an example and have her resign without any further needed action.
